We are pleased to announce that Gilles Poitras is now Director of
Information Resources in the Learning Studio, Rose Falanga's old position.
Gilles comes to us from the Golden Gate University Library where he was
Electronic Resources Librarian. His duties there included library web page
coordination and reference work. Before that he was Reference Librarian
at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and has other experience
with special collections.
Gilles has an MLIS from Berkeley and a MA in Theology. He has served as
Internet advisor and is currently President of the BayNet Board, an
association of multitype libraries in the SF area.
Some of you may remember him from the very successful presentation on
Japanese animation he did here in January 1999. He is well connected in
anime and manga circles! Just a few weeks ago his second book on Japanese
animation, Anime
Essentials, was published by Stone Bridge Press of Berkeley. He has donated
a copy to the Learning Studio along with a copy of his first book The Anime
Companion.
He would like folks to drop by to visit if they have time and let him know
what they find useful in the Learning Studio, so he can better plan ways to
improve service.
