PRINCIPAL LIBRARIAN
ALAMEDA COUNTY LIBRARY
Fremont, CA

Salary $99,133 - $120,286. Alameda County Library offers “infinite possibilities” to a diverse population of over 525,000 people through 10 libraries, innovative outreach services and an excellent website. Established in 1910, the Library has a staff of 250, a budget of $20 million and serves the cities of Albany, Dublin, Fremont, Newark and Union City. The Library also provides services to the County’s unincorporated areas, County Jails, Juvenile Hall and a Federal Correctional Institution. Annually, more than 2.2 million visitors check out over 5.4 million items and 52,000 customers use the Library’s website on a daily basis. The Principal Librarian is a supervisory position and member of the executive management team at the Library and reports to the Deputy County Librarian. He/She is responsible for the effective daily operations of the Fremont Libraries and creating and supporting the vision of the Library Administration. Requires a master’s degree in Library and Information Science; and four years of responsible, professional experience as a Librarian, including the equivalent of two years' full time supervisory experience.
