Resource Librarian
Anshen + Allen Architects, an award-winning, international practice specializing in architecture for healthcare and academic institutions, is seeking a regular, full-time Resource Librarian to manage and grow our building materials library for our practice. Reporting to the Information Specialist, the Resource Librarian will be responsible for managing the product sample libraries, circulation and maintenance of the reference library materials, and data entry as well as routine maintenance of the firm's online card catalog. The Resource Librarian will be instrumental in working with the Information Services team to establish an accessible resource library for all offices, domestic and international. Responsbilities:
- Work collaboratively with the Sustainability Committee and Interiors Departments to have the resource library collection clearly reflect the sustainable building initatives of the firm.
- Work collaboratively with the Interior Architects and Healthcare Planners to have the resource and reference collection reflect the particular needs of Hospital and Healthcare Environments.
- Maintenance of the materials libraries to include: Interfiling updates and cutsheets into the current product reference library; refiling samples and cataloging new samples; culling the collection of old samples and disposing of them adhering to the library policies and protocols; reference work in assisting staff with finding and procuring product samples.
- Coordinate sample presentations and meetings with product representatives as well as scheduling product presentations for the Interiors Department and maintaining their presentation calendar.
- Processing and cataloging incoming product reference binders in to the online catalog, as well as updating the product representative contact databases.
- Maintainance of the reference collection to include: Circulation database maintenance (checking in and out of books, serials, codes, etc); refiling and reshelving books, serials and codes; interfiling building code updates and errata into the current code collection; copy and some original cataloging of incoming monographs, periodicals, electronic documents, etc. according to AACR2.
- Assist patrons with reference requests as needed.
- Other tasks or projects that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Masters of Library and Information Science required
- Minimum of 1-2 years of previous library experience preferred
- Familiarity with Library of Congress Classification and AACR2 catologing rules
- Familiarity with Construction Specifiers Institute classification scheme and/or Masterformat
- Familiarity with working in an architectural firm preferred but not required
- Highly organized and proficient at multi-tasking
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow directions and work independently to fulfill routine tasks.
- Pleasant and professional demeanor and ability to interact with users in an affable manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Utilities (Access, Excel, Outlook) and HTML
- Ability to perform some heavy lifting with or without accommodation (up to 50 pounds)
