The California Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, offers undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Facilities Engineering Technology, Global and Maritime Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering Technology, and Marine Transportation. LOCATION: The campus is located in Vallejo on the north shore of the Carquinez Strait at the northeastern extreme of the San Pablo Bay, approximately 30 miles northeast of San Francisco. DUTIES: We seek an energetic, highly motivated library assistant to staff the library's service desk and fulfill a variety of regular library operation activities. Duties include assisting library patrons in using library services and interpreting policies; training of student assistants; performing interlibrary lending/borrowing and document delivery functions; overseeing periodicals receiving; claiming and tracking materials not received; ensuring the necessary binding of materials, the orderliness of library shelving and assisting with other library operation as needed. The ideal candidate will have exceptional public service and interpersonal skills, a willing attitude, a high degree of initiative and an eye for details. Work schedules are subject to change from semester to semester based upon the needs of the institution. The Library Assistant II reports to the Library Director. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is performed using a computer keyboard with regular exposure to a computer monitor.
