The University Libraries of California State University, East Bay, are seeking an energetic, innovative, and service-oriented librarian to join the faculty. The Libraries are engaged in the teaching life of the University and an ambitious program to enhance online teaching & learning.

The successful incumbent will have primary responsibility for coordinating the planning, evaluation, and implementation of the Library's information technology systems, including the integrated library system and the Library's web presence. S/he will collaborate with library staff in investigating emerging Internet and information technologies, as well as take a leading role in long-range strategic planning for the Library's future information technology needs.

Librarians enjoy faculty rank and privileges and are expected to participate in the full range of faculty responsibilities and professional and scholarly activities required to meet the criteria for retention, promotion and tenure. Faculty assignments include teaching credit courses and other instructional sessions in the Libraries' information literacy program; providing instructionally focused reference services, in person and online; participating in collection development and serving as subject specialists and liaisons to disciplinary departments; and participating in faculty governance.

RANK AND SALARY: Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience.

Librarians at CSUEB work in a collegial team environment and collaborate with each other and library staff in planning, implementing, and assessing library initiatives.

Qualifications Required:
MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; a willingness and ability to serve students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds; familiarity with the principles of information literacy; the ability to work collegially in a diverse, fast-paced environment; a strong service commitment; a demonstrated capacity and commitment to engage in research and/or continued professional development to satisfy the requirements for promotion and tenure as a faculty member.

Qualifications Desired:
We are especially interested in candidates with experience or demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
· integrated library systems &/or specifically Innovative Interfaces;
· digital information and content-linking technologies;
· interactive web design, including development applications and scripting languages,
· web usability assessment;
· instructional and library applications of emerging technologies (Web 2.0 etc);
· online teaching and learning including the development of digital curricula, assessments, and tutorials.
