Head Librarian / Project Manager , Library Associates Companies [recruiter], Washington DC

LAC is recruiting for an experienced Head Librarian / Project Manager (PM) for our client, an up and coming library services firm owned and managed by professional librarians. The PM will work on a library management project for a major government agency in Washington DC, metro area. In addition to a competitive salary, this position offers the opportunity to work on a multi-year assignment, in a leadership position, supported by an outstanding group of information professionals.

• Demonstrated project management experience for a department, project, or function involving all aspects of library management including public access services (research and reference services), technical services: (cataloging, digital asset management), and other related functions.
  
• Experience in development and implementing ISO 9000 or Six Sigma quality control processes.
  
• Excellent communication skills as relates to leadership of a project team or department, customer service and client relations.
  
• Experience in managing complex situations and problems, and demonstrated initiative in devising realistic and innovative solutions to challenges involving personnel, project initiatives and budgeting.
  

QUALIFICATIONS: You must have a Master's degree in Library Science and strong supervisory skills. Previous experience in a leadership role in a library or research center is mandatory. Participation and involvement in professional associations, specifically the Special Library Association (SLA), is highly desirable
