| Description: | Part Time Library Assistant (1-7PM M-Th, 11AM – 5PM Fri) Description: The Menlo School Library is seeking a qualified candidate for a part time position as Library Assistant. The library serves 750 students in grades 6 through 12, along with teachers, staff and parents. Students use the library during classes, free periods and before and after school, making the library a busy destination that draws a crowd at all times of the day. Responsibilities: The Part Time Library Assistant will be one of two staff members working under the direction of the Head Librarian. Primary responsibilities will be to manage the library catalog, receive new materials, and order supplies. The Library Assistant will have joint responsibility for processing new materials, and will assist students and teachers with research needs and with the use of library equipment. This position will be available mid-August. Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have an affinity for working with teenagers and the ability to maintain a sense of humor while balancing the academic and social uses of the library. Candidates should have experience with Macintosh OSX, Microsoft Office applications, and searching the Internet. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask are essential. Applicants should enjoy reading and discussing fiction and nonfiction books that are of interest to teens. A bachelor's degree is required; previous experience in a school library is helpful, but initiative and a willingness to learn new skills are of primary importance. Closing date: July 1, 2008 |
