| Description: | Title: Evening Supervisor, Loan and Course Reserves Unit (LSIII) The Stanford University Libraries seeks a flexible, personable, service-oriented team leader to serve as the Evening Supervisor for the Green Library. The Stanford University Libraries consist of a main research library (Green Library), an instructional computing center (Meyer Library), and fourteen research branch libraries serving the sciences and engineering, social sciences, and humanities and area studies. The Libraries at Stanford hold more than seven million print volumes and an additional six million non-print items. Schedule - Academic Year: Sun-Thurs. 1:00pm-10:00pm All work schedules are subject to change due to departmental need and scheduled library hours. Responsibilities - To uphold existing customer service standards, the Evening Workflow Supervisor will hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 4 FTE evening Loan and Course reserve staff, assuring a high level of productivity throughout. The supervisor will identify and attend to patron and circulation issues at the desk or by overseeing the main department email account. As necessary, the supervisor will deal with incidents or emergencies within the library, whether patron or facility related. According to established procedure, the new Evening Workflow Supervisor will perform or oversee several department functions, including building closure, department statistic gathering (monthly, quarterly & annual), lost and found item tracking, new materials processing, quarterly and annual renewals (graduates & faculty/staff) and deceased patron follow-up. As part of the unit’s “Workflows” team, the supervisor will provide backup support for administrative tasks handled by other supervisors and provide input on policy, procedure and workflow decisions, as well as address Course Reserve questions after hours. He/she will organize the quarterly Access Services department meetings and chair or participate in department teams on a variety of projects, including “Workflows”, “Signage”, “Space Planning” and “Emergency Procedures”. The Evening Supervisor will assume the role of facilities coordinator, serving as liaison with the facilities department to handle any emergency or non-emergency problems that may arise. Other duties as assigned. Equipment, systems, software, skills - • High-level proficiency in MS Excel & Word. Qualifications or Requirements - Required: • Management and leadership skills to supervise a diverse staff in a dynamic environment. Preferred: • Successful experience in an academic/research library.
