EXPERIMENTS IN PHYSICS WITH DR. FRANK OPPENHEIMER

Program 5: Microscope.

We have arranged the optics of a microscope on a Cenco optical bench. The object is a coiled filament 6 volt flashlight bulb. The objective has a focal length of about 2 cm and the eyepiece a focal length of about 5 cm. It is possible to view the real image produced by the objective both with and without a ground glass at the position of this real image. For this setup we use achromatic lenses. The students can calculate the magnification and thus determine the coil spacing of the flashlight bulb filament.
