Forwarded from the SLA Leadership list:

The new SLA Knowledge Management Division is up and running! The SLA
Board of Directors voted in August to approve this new Division, which
will offer broad-based programs, communications, and resources that will
enable members to expand their competencies in implementing knowledge
management in all types of organizations.

* To read our scope statement, visit our temporary web site at
http://pantheon.yale.edu/~dstern/kmindex.html

Programs and continuing education courses are under development for the
SLA Annual Conference in Denver. Communication tools such as a web site,
a newsletter and a Community of Pratice (CoP) are currently being
explored.

We will involve information users and facilitators from across the
landscape; corporations, academic and research institutions, and service
vendors. We envision a community of thinkers involved in using,
designing, reviewing, and improving the techniques and tools for
knowledge management, and influencing the trends in this rapidly
expanding and important domain. If you are involved in knowledge
management in any way or just want to learn more about the variety of
processes and roles in this growing field, you should join this new
division.
