other projects, and to cover for me while I take a short sabbatical in
August.

Paid Summer Library Intern position (50-60% time) $18 - $22 per hour.
Hours are negotiable.
This is a small pharmaceutical library with a solo Librarian. Most of
our resources are virtual, but there are some print holdings. The
Librarian will be out on leave one week in June and all of August.
Responsibilities: Maintain print & online journal subscriptions; route
journals as needed. Track user statistics for databases, download usage
reports for online subscriptions. Perform literature searches in
bibliographic databases. Administer information sources/databases; work
with Vendors as needed. Ensure copyright compliance. Update library
intranet page as needed. Help weed journal and book collection. Small
projects as time allows, may include updating training materials.
Experience: Experience searching WWW. Experience searching in
bibliographic databases (e.g. Medline (PubMed), Dialog, Biosis, Embase).
Familiarity with journal subscriptions. Familiarity with cataloging
concepts. Attention to detail. Exceptional communication skills, both
verbal and written. Exceptional computer skills. Must be able to shelve
and re-arrange journals and books. Ability to work independently.
Education: One year of library school. Familiarity with pharmaceutical
industry concepts, practices, and procedures desirable.
Job Details: June 1 through September 1, 2006. This is a part-time
position; the schedule is negotiable. Intern will register with a
payrolling company and essentially work as a contractor through them.
