SLA Sierra Nevada Chapter dinner meeting 
Tuesday, November 28 2006, 5:30pm 
After ALA in New Orleans: Possibilities for Professional Service
 
Please join us on Tuesday, November 28th for the second dinner meeting
of the year. Our speaker will be Lisa Spagnolo, Acquisitions Librarian,
Monographs at UC Davis and ALA member. She attended the 2006 ALA
conference in New Orleans, the first large meeting to be held there
after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Beyond honoring their
reservations and commitment to the city of New Orleans, ALA organized
hundreds of librarians as volunteers; they represented us all with their
hammers and shovels. Lisa was part of a landscaping crew at New Orleans
Public Library's Hubbel Branch. She came away from the experience with a
new definition for "outreach," and excited about all the possibilities
of librarian hands assisting others beyond the walls of our libraries.

mayonnaise, ciabatta
