There are many reasons to attend and there's still room at the Sept 19th dinner program! This is the launch of the chapter's new season. Besides having speaker Ken Haycock, we're also presenting our own Wess-John Murdough with the chapter's Professional Achievement Award. We set the price at a reasonable $25 for lots of hors d'oeuvres and a lovely venue by the bay. And, hey, the N Judah stops right in front of Delancey Street on the Embarcadero (Brannan Street). So don't wait--let us know you're coming. Program details and registration info are below.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY REGION CHAPTER PROGRAM EVENT
An Evening with Ken Haycock
Director, SJSU School of Library and Information Science
Tuesday, September 19, 2006
Delancey Street Foundation
600 Embarcadero, San Francisco
Ken Haycock was appointed director of the School of Library and
Information Science at San José State University in 2005, and has
already begun revamping the program. On September 19th, he will tell us
about his plans for the SLIS program at SJSU, and give us his
perspectives on what the future holds for libraries and librarians.
Dr. Haycock has been president of several national and international
professional associations and is currently a member of the council of
ALA and immediate past president of the Association for Library and
Information Science Education. He has worked in most library
environments, as library media coordinator for a major city school
district, CEO of a regional library system, manager of special libraries
and on the review team for university libraries. He has also been a
senior official of a $400 million public organization. As a community
member, Ken has been a public library trustee, elected school board
president and municipal councilor.
