water assumes a crystalline lattice formation

in liquid water, 26 molecules attract each other and organize as closely as
possible with positive and negative polar attractions

in a solid state, only 22 molecules may occupy the same volume/space in that
the molecules must aling themselves in a crystalline lattice---orderly, neat
and in a structured sequence.

26 molecules per volume divided by 26 molecules per volume = density of 1.000

and 22 molecules per volume divided by 26 molecules per volume = denisty of
.......

In this case, order of the crystalline structure dictates that ice
floats........what would happen in a pond with organisms if ice became denser
and sank to the pond's bottom???

earth is sooooooo unique

good luck
