Hi Jen,
A nice "heavy" gas is just plain old carbon doxide. If you want a real lead
balloon, try to get your hands on some xenon (very expensive). The molar mass
of carbon dioxide is 44 and air is about 29, so CO2 should sink nicely. Most
other dense gases are toxic and i would not recommned them.
