A friend of mind was wondering if cats and dogs have belly buttons. If not,
does that mean that they don't have an umbilical cord? If not, why do you
think belly buttons evolved in humans?

Does each kitten born in a litter have its own umbilical cord? Or are all
the kittens in a litter inside a package, which has one umbilical cord
connection to the mother cat?

Same for dogs?

Do twins in humans each have a separate umbilical cord attachment to their
mother? How about quintuplets?

Thanks,
Jhumki
