JOB POSTING
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
Regular full-time
Summary: Plans, develops and administers educational programs of the
Zoo, with an emphasis on school programs and teacher training, by
performing duties personally or through staff.
Responsibilities include: Planning and executing the refinement and
expansion of educational programs, establishing collaborative and
advisory relationships with education community leaders and other
resources, planning and managing comprehensive interdisciplinary
curriculum services, hiring and developing staff, integrating
educational technology into Zoo programs, preparing budgets, liaising
with SFZS Board committees, and acting as department head in the absence
of the Education Director.
Qualifications: At least 10 years combined formal education and
experience in science or environmental education with experience in
planning and administration, comprehensive curriculum and program
development and delivery, execution of significant department
initiatives, and leadership. Must also be a team player, experienced
working with volunteers, and committed to the conservation mission of
the San Francisco Zoo.
