A German high school teacher by the name of Juergen Giesen has a website
that consists of a collection of programs that he has developed which will
do such things as:

1. Give the positions of the Sun and Moon on the horizon for any date, time
and location (on a world map with day and night regions). The times of rise
and setting, the declination, the Greenwich hour angle of sun and moon and
the equation of time, and more data are computed.

2. Give the shadow of an object (building, wall, tree) for any location,
date and time.

3. Generate the analemma for your particular location (it's the path that
the gnomon of a sundial draws at the same hour over the course of a year).

4. Generate a chart of the moon phases for a given year (not a bad poster).

5. Predict equinoxes, solstices

6. ... and much more.

On the home page, you can scroll down to see examples of what the various
applets can do before you decide to click any one of them.

Scrolling down on any one of his pages can prove very rewarding. There are
a lot of useful links given throughout his website (see the bottom of the
"Sun Eclipse" page for instance).

All of the programs are Java Applets and you are free to download many of
them for your own use and enjoyment.

So take a peek, if you are so inclined, and enjoy:
