Peter, i will let someone else anser your question, i suspect it all comes
down to a matter of degree, and the impurities or constituents of the
particular glass, thickness, etc. but, i think it is great that you are
teaching conceptual physics in eigth grade. Hopefully you will get a good
answer from Paul "things are more complicated than that".
