Subject: block schedules

I teach at a middle school in Marin, and we are looking into creating
a block schedule. We currently have a 7 period day, and students take
two electives. In addition, our music faculty teaches in the morning
and then moves on to other schools. Many teachers, the science
department in particular, feel the current 45 minute class is too
short. I am looking for middle schools that are currently using a
block schedule so we can get some ideas about how to go about
changing our current schedule. Can anyone tell me briefly how you
arranged your block schedule and how well it works? Could you also
include a contact phone number or e-mail for anyone who could answer
a few more questions?

I sent out an e-mail like this two years ago, and we are once again
trying to re-do our schedule. thanks for your help!
