I just read a pinhole comment about Antarctica's melt down. Could others
who know something about Antarctica inform us about what is happening and
what may happen to Antarctica's ice. From just looking at the papers, I
recall that the ice shelf that is breaking away from the continent is
already floating so there are no changes in sea level due to all of those
ice cliffs crashing into the ocean. I also read fairly recently that the
average temperature of Antarctica's ice is going down a little bit so, who
knows, perhaps there is a gain in the amount of ice that sits atop
Antarctica, and consequently a drop in sea level.
