Subject: - Learning Studio - week of July7

Starting this week I shall attempt to send these reports out on Saturdays
so I can include the list for the new e-texts added in the same week. This
of course assumes that I am at work on those Saturdays, which is usually
the case.

One interesting electronic text in the list this week is the H-IIA User's
Manual, a 5.5MB PDF file, this is the English language edition of the
user's manual for Japan's satellite launch vehicle. So if you are planning
to launch that class project this will have the specs for the p[ayload
fairings as well as lots of other useful, or at least interesting
information.

SEARCHING TIPS:

This week I look at another search options in the Learning Studio
Catalog (http://library.exploratorium.edu/).

When searching are you getting too small a result? Try using the Index Name
menu to select ANY as your index. This searches title, subject, author and
the other indexes. This means that your search result will be broader. This
is especially useful for when you are looking for books on abd by a
particular person.

WEB PAGE OF THE WEEK:

Earth Simulator Center
http://www.es.jamstec.go.jp/

The site for the world's most powerful supercomputer which is devoted
solely to modeling the Earth. Projects include studying global warming,
plate techtonics, and underground water migration.

SCIENCE NEWS:
