Subject: - Learning Studio - week of July 28

Saturday already!

This week flew by quickly with the teacher's being here for the TI classes.
They kept us busy and, as usual added, a higher degree of livelyness to the
Learning Studio.

This week I announce the creation of two new Web Information Source pages.

Earth System Science
http://www.exploratorium.edu/ls/infosources/EarthSystemInfo.html

Hydrosphere
http://www.exploratorium.edu/ls/infosources/Hydrosphere.html

These pages are both in the early stages of construction and so may lack
resources of importance. Please feel free to suggest links.

For a full list of our Web Information Sources for Educators pages see:

WEB PAGE OF THE WEEK:

Earth Impact Database
http://www.unb.ca/passc/ImpactDatabase/

OK you've read about causes of massive dinosaur extinction, about large
little eroded visible craters in desert areas. But is there a list of known
impact sites on the Earth? Yes and this database is it.

SCIENCE NEWS:

Unique meteorite crater found under North Sea
http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99992622

A New Scientist story about a recently discovered crater with
characteristics not previously fund in craters on Earth. Also noteworthy is
that there is 3D seismic data for this site as the area has been surveyed
for gas by BP, something that is far too expensive for many researchers.
Thanks to Larry Shaw for alerting me to this story.
