Hi wolfki,
The traditional cleaning solution for glassware is mixture of potassion
dichromate and concentrated sulfuric acid. This is a very potent mixture and
should NOT be where students can get their hands on it. Also, this mixture
must be prepared with care--it gets hot. Anothe solution for cleaning organic
residues is a mixture of potassium hydroxide in ethanol which is heated
carefully when the glass ware is put in it. Again, use with caution!
Otherwise detergent and lots of elbow grease will do the job.
