Subject: IISME Teacher Trips and Summer Fellowships

Hello Pinholers,
Here are two programs from IISME (Industry Initiatives for Science and Math
Educators):

1) Teacher Trips to Industry "Future Connections"
Both industry and education professionals benefit from learning more about
each other's environments and perspectives. These trips are structured
one-day visits to local companies for teachers, administrators, counselors,
and others. The five components of the trips are: 1) an overview of
company products, 2) a tour of the facilities, 3) two hours of job
shadowing, 4) roundtable on workplace skills/needs, and 5) education
transfer workshop. IISME is currently planning discipline-focused trips in
the following content areas: Mathematics, Life Science, Physical Science,
and Multimedia.
To find out what trips are planned this year, go to
http://iisme.org and view the trip list. Then register on line. For more
information, contact Shari Liss at (418) 553 3179 or sliss@iisme.org

2) IISME Summer Fellowships
Learn new skills and become familiar with state of the art technologies,
work side by side with professionals in a top Bay Area company or
university, earn up to $7000, earn academic credit, return to classes with
new resources and teaching ideas.
