Paul

I was thinking last night about the gas/liquid density issue.

Is there any way that a gas could be more dense than a liquid if maybe it was under a lot of pressure? Like if you put a balloon filled with a dense gas deep in the ocean, could you get to a spot that the pressure was so great that the volume had decreased so much that the balloon would begin to sink because it was now more dense than the water?
