Hi pinholers

The twin problem is not symmetric since one twin does accelerate and the other
does not.

However, the explanation does not necessarily need to use general relativity.
When the one twin turns around he simply changes special relativistic frames.
This causes all of the time changes needed to cause the differential aging
effects. The book "Spacetime" by Ed Taylor does a great job on the twin paradox.
