Subject: catalysts

My chemistry co-teacher & I are having an argument about catalysts.
She claims that some catalysts actually can make rxns go slower by
raising their activation energy. For example, some redox reactions in
the body go slower because of enzymes that slow down the rxn rate. I
think that's impossible, because the rxn would then just use the
un-catalyzed reaction mechanism and have its "regular" rate and Ea.

Can you in fact have catalysts that make things go faster?

Thanx,
Geoff Ruth
