A NEW DIRECTOR. PLEASE SEE INFO BELOW:

Galileo Educational Services is looking for a talented individual to
take over the Directorship of Sally Ride Science Camp at Stanford in
2004. The ideal candidate will have a background in science education,
an entrepreneurial spirit, and a dedication to attracting more girls to
science. Work is part-time during the school year and full time for
approximately 4 weeks in the summer. Applications are due December 1,
2003.

Sally Ride Science Camp, developed with astronaut Sally Ride, provides
an opportunity for middle school girls to deepen their interest in
science, meet other girls with similar interests, and be introduced to
role model high school, college, and professional women pursuing
science and engineering interests and careers.

This will be the program’s second year after a very successful launch
in 2003. Last year the program was fully enrolled and was lauded by
parents, campers, staff members, and by the several major newspapers
who wrote features on the camp. More than 100 girls are already on the
waitlist for 2004.

The Director will assume overall leadership of the program, including
staff recruiting and management, grassroots marketing, and day-to-day
operations. This position requires 5 hours per week during the school
year between January and June, and will be full time for approximately
4 weeks during the summer.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications: college
degree; significant experience working with middle school girls; strong
background in science education; demonstrated leadership ability;
school year employment to complement this work.
