Subject: One-way mirrors

We began our discussion of light yesterday, and discussed reflection vs.
absortion vs. transmission of light. The quesiton came up: how do one-way
mirrors work? Why do they reflect light coming from one side, yet
transmit light coming from the other side?

I have not found any discussion in any text books.
