Hello TI folks,
If you are a life science or biology teacher at a middle school in the San
Francisco Bay Area, and you would like to participate in an
Exploratorium-based education research project, then I have a great
opportunity for you!
I am conducting a study of middle school students ideas about cell
biology. If you choose to participate, I would need access to 6-10 of your
students for two 20-30 minute interviews conducted at the start of school
(September/October) and again at the end of the semester. Your role would
be to help me line up interviews and smooth things over with parents and
school administrators. I will also want to interview you once briefly at
the outset of the study about your ideas in cell biology. I will work with
you to choose interview dates and times that would be minimally disruptive
to you and your students. For your trouble you will receive a small stipend
at the completion of the research project and a better understanding of how
your students learn.
If you think you might be interested, send me an e-mail containing your
phone number and we can talk in more detail. Talking to me now does not
mean that you have to take part in the study. You can make that decision
after I describe the project in more detail.
Sincerely,
Steve Ribisi
