Robot Cooking: A Build-It-Yourself Robotics Lesson
Wednesday, September 8th, 2004 at 1.00pm Pacific

NASA's Robotics Education Project (REP) will offer a free online webcast for 5th-7th grades.
Students will learn about basic robotics while building their own model of a Mars Rover.

During this one-hour course, students will learn about:
* Gears and gear ratios
* How a motor works
* What makes a structure strong
* Why mechanical systems are helpful
all in the context of National Educational Standards.

During the webcast, students will be given step-by-step instruction on how to build their own basic robot frame and will learn how those same concepts are used on real NASA rovers. Classes will have the opportunity to interact during a live question and answer session.
