>> Why do you think that? Most sources I have found indicate that ozone has a distinct smell.

I did further checking. My initial statement was based on and statement by a co-worker and some web sites that were frankly wrong. Perhaps this is due to a confusion with regular oxygen which is odorless.

>>> gruth@leadershiphigh.org - 9/17/04 9:33 PM >>>
OK, I'll try to respond to the possessed Ionic Breeze air purifier.

>> Also, I don't think ozone is odorless. My memory both from reading & BART stations is that it has a sharp, metallic-y smell. But I don't remember it smelling at all like bleach.

Some information I have recently found compares it to bleach or a metallic smell.

In any case I am no longer running my filter much when I am home. Running it when I am at work is doing a good job of reducing the dust levels. Ozone is something you don't want to be breathing.

>>> pauld@exploratorium.edu - 9/19/04 9:13 AM >>>
I Worked with ozone in a research project.

>> PS During our research we discovered tthat ozone could pass right through teflon, that was a surprise since we were using a teflon liner to keep the ozone from reacting with the metal walls of our container.

Now that is cool!!!!

Subject: NIH Curriculum Review Article

Hi Everyone!

Check out the TI Staff/TI Alum reveiw of National Institutes of
Health Curriculum supplements!

Tina Doss, Chair of Biology at Carlmont High School and TI Alum, and
I reviewed 2 free NIH Curriculum supplements for Biology, ("Genetics
and Human Variation" and "Cell Biology and Cancer". Our review is
published in the current issue of the online journal "Cell Biology
Education". You can access it (for free) at:
http://www.cellbioed.org/articles/vol3no3/toc.cfm

Thanks also to the pinholers who sent me comments about your
experiences using these supplements --- Frank McNutt, Katie Ward,
Melissa Hero, Greg Schaal, and Mary Rustia. Your valuable
contributions are acknowledged at the end of the article. It's the
power of the Pinhole in action!

NIH also has free curriculum supplements for middle and high school,
and the information on how to find these is in the article. Enjoy!

---Karen

Ok Pinholers, To make sure that the system works efficiently, please read the following-

FORMAT: If you have the option, send your pinhole message in "PLAIN TEXT FORMAT" only. This will get rid of those weird looking coded messages.

Hundreds of people will see your original message plus stuff like this:

------=_NextPart_000_0000_01C48C3D.12679B10 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META HTTP-EQUIV=3D"Content-Type" CONTENT=3D"text/html; = charset=3DWindows-1252"> <META NAME=3D"Generator" CONTENT=3D"MS Exchange Server version = 6.5.6944.0"> <TITLE>stuff we do etc.....

RESPONDING: When you reply, erase all other messages. Only submit your response. This will help reduce the length of your messages (please see my next email)

Hundreds of folk are on digest mode. By not erasing the original message, you have at least doubled the message length.

SUBJECT: Under the subject: write a subject (i.e. Subject: Goober Science). DON'T leave it as re:Pinhole Digest #401. All messages are archived and this will help them get filed in their appropriate location. This also helps people figure out which messages to read.

If you are responding to a previous message - write the subject as RE:Goober Science. It should be RE: "title" (Write this name exactly as the original).

THANKS
