My school is in need of a part time biology teacher for next year. It's
a great small charter school in SF, collegial faculty atmosphere, small
classes of wonderful kids, decent departmental budget, decrepit

Job Announcement: Biology Teacher at Gateway High School
A California Distinguished School

Gateway High School, a small public charter high school in San
Francisco, has an opening in the science department for the 2005-2006
school year. Gateway High School is committed to helping each student,
regardless of learning style or ability, learn the skills, habits, and
knowledge necessary for success in college and beyond.

Key Characteristics of Gateway High School:

achieve at high levels

Biology Teacher Responsibilities:
• Teach three sections of 11th grade Biology (this may be any
combination of Biology and/or Honors Biology) Note: this is a 0.6
teaching position based on a 1.0 scale
• Work collaboratively with science department members to strengthen
science curriculum and commitment to inquiry based, hands-on classroom
approaches to teaching science;
• Act as a faculty advisor to approximately 15 students;

Requirements:
• Current California single subject science credential in Biological
Sciences or related area (or information indicating your eligibility to
receive one);
• Undergraduate degree in Biology or related field preferred;
• Commitment to Gateway's mission is essential, including a desire to
work with a diverse student body;
• Desire to be part of building the larger school culture and community.
