Not the same as skipping stones, but another interesting example of the
interaction of water with a solid object is the demonstration shown here:

When a glass of water with a ping pong ball floating in it is dropped
a few inches onto a table the ball bounces up many inches.

A fun challenge is to ask someone to remove the ping pong ball
without reaching into the glass!
