Subject: special multicultural workshop

Please join our special Teacher Institute visiting scholar, Sam Anderson
for an afterschool workshop.

I know it's short notice, but should be very interesting.

His work is focused on ethnomathematics and african culture,
- Wed April 23rd - 4-6 in the southwest linoleum floored classroom.

Sam worked with Bob Moses in the original Mississipi Project in the 60's
and now in the Algebra Project, a math learning program for black kids. One
or two years ago, Bob Moses decided to take that math education project to
Mississipi also (that got written up in Time Magazine). He works close to
Moses in that project in New York city now.

Maurice Bazin and Sam published a book together in Portugal on Science and
Dependency in
the Third World.

Hope to see you there, Please let karenm@exploratorium.edu know if you can
attend!!!!
