EXHIBITS INTERN
This is a two year internship in the Center for Public Exhibition at the
Exploratorium. It is designed to provide well rounded exposure to the
exhibit support and development aspects of the museumÕs operations. During
the first year, the intern will acquire technical skills and work
experience in the daily and ongoing maintenance and set-up of exhibits, and
be exposed to the exhibit development process and presentation of public
programs. During the second year, the intern will choose to apply their
skills to a particular area within exhibit support or exhibit development.
The internship is structured to provide flexible learning opportunities in
an environment where responsibilities increase with skill level

INFORMATION SYSTEMS INTERN
The Information Systems intern will work on a 2 year project to provide
Information Technology support to the organization. This position will
include a variety of assignments in the following areas: implementation of
information solution projects that support museum strategies and improve
major processes; helping staff meet their IS needs; gathering user
requirements; analyzing technical alternatives; defining specifications and
implementing solutions. The intern will work in cross functional teams and
with leading edge technologies. The intern will communicate project status
and issues on a regular basis to the position's supervisor, the Manager of
Information Systems.

OUTREACH INTERN
The Exploratorium's Outreach Program provides hands-on science workshops to
underserved groups in the community by partnering with community
organizations, school districts and other groups. Workshops are held both
at and outside the Exploratorium. This regular position works with the
Outreach Director to plan, develop and lead Exploratorium Outreach Program
activities, including coordinating the work of other Outreachers and
developing and building simple, portable, hands-on science exhibits.

LEARNING FACILITIES INTERN
The Information Resources (IR) Department oversees the Exploratorium's
Learning Facilities Intranet and Archives and is part of the Internet
Development and Maintenance Team. This position is part of the staff of
the Learning Facilities which consists of the Learning Resources Room and
Learning Studio. The Learning Resources Room is a multimedia resource and
teacher reception center with over 6000 books, videos, professional and
science journals, CDs and laserdiscs. The Learning Studio is an
experimental multimedia development space. Both facilities will be used by
K-12 teachers, staff and the general public. The schedule for this
position includes Sundays and some evening work is likely.
