How do I get to be part of these discussions?? I am a High School Science
teacher at the American School of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, and a friend has
been forwarding the pinhole digest to me. Can I become part of your list
and get it directly from you? About the gender/science issue, I'm pretty
confident it is another case of nature+nurture, like Steven and Ian said.
There's only so much we can do. Here at our school the outcomes are as
biased as anywhere else I know. Is it significant to add, though that the
recipients of the yearly Science Award is often a girl? I am enjoying the
discussion, especially after Linda's letter, but I must confess I never
worried too much about this. I tend to agree with Steven when he says so
what if we don't reach parity in all areas. Offer the opportunities for
all, but accept that they'll make different choices... Now, about separate
schooling for for boys and girls... they'll both miss not only a lot of
the fun but a lot of education as well.
