Hi Pinhole Viewers,

Edna DeVore at the SETI Institute has asked me to pass on information about
a new summer program with them.

"Voyages through Time"
a new, NSF high school science curriculum project designed to produce a one
year high school course centered of the unifying theme of evolution,
integrating astronomical, biological, and geological sciences

July 6-31, 1998

NASA Ames Research Center

Hosts:SETI institute, NASA, Cal Academy of Science, and SFSU

Qualifications:
Experienced science teacher
current employment as science teacher in the bay area
bachelors or graduate degree in science
demonstrated ability to develop lessons and curriculum
agreement by school site or district to pilot materials
experience in working computers in the classroom desired
access to and experience with electronic mail and the internet highly desired

Stipends:
$2000 for 20 days for summer 1998
additional support for reviews and summer 1999 workshop

Responsibilities:
July 6-31 institute
create hands-on, database and telecommunications activities
reveiw draft materials during '98-99
participate in pilot during summer 1999 (1-2 weeks)
pilot modules during fall 1999
work with evaluators

submit:
letter of interest, include science specialties
resume
original sample lesson
3 professional references to contact
letter of support from your Principal or district for pilot testing
