Subject: water cycle

Please let me know if I'm not sending this to the right address.

I'm trying to make the water cycle more real to my students. Does anyone
have an estimate of how long a single water molecule might stay in a
glacier? In the ocean? The longest a water molecule could stay in a cloud?
I know ice cores have been used for paleontology...any idea how far back
the information would go?

What percentage of water molecules on the planet have EVER been in a living
thing?

I'm just looking for something within the right order of magnitude.

Thanks!

Monya
