Subject: bubbles and surface tension

At the bubble workshop Thomas explained that the surface tension of
water was actually too high to produce bubbles. He said that the high
surface tension caused the liquid to be almost brittle, rather than
elastic. (if my memory serves me well-which, since I've turned 40...)
