Doppler Echo?

How does my diagram at http://scienceguy.webjump.com/doppler.htm match the
phenomenon?? It's a bit difficult to visualize your situation based on
your description. The echo coming from in front of the train would be
compressed by Doppler effect, yet bouncing it off the canyon walls will
affect it's direction, but not it's frequency. Thus, it is as though you
are simultaneously in front of AND behind the train.

How's that work for everybody??
