Dear Pinhole Teachers,
The year is almost over! Congratulations! You are almost on your
well-deserved summer break!
Summer is an exciting time at the Teacher Institute. I am looking forward
to seeing many of you here this summer. In July, I will begin recruiting
new science teachers for our New Teacher program, designed to support new
science teachers in their early years of teaching. The program includes
the usual TI benefits, and also extra support, coaching, materials, and
stipends. If your school is in San Francisco or San Mateo county, and if
you know of new hires at your school, and can get their names and some
method by which to contact them, I would be happy to include them when I
start mailing out applications in July. (If you cannot get their names, I
would be happy to contact your principal and have him or her contact the
new hire with my phone number.) One of the things we learned from this
year's group is to recruit for the fall program as early as possible! So
before you pack up for summer, find out if your principal is hiring (or has
hired) a new science teacher for the fall.
New candidates (and principals) can find out more about our program on our
website:
www. exploratorium.edu/ti/news/
by looking toward the bottom of the page, "Are you a new science teacher?"

If you have specific questions, please email or call me.

Thanks for your help.
Have a great summer!

See you soon,
Lori
