Seismograph Exhibit
The new Seismograph Exhibit for the Arkansas Museum Network is finished! Many thanks to J. Lahr (USGS), Dave F., Andrew L., Klover K., and Pearl T. (Exploratorium).
A seismograph measures the magnitude of an earthquake by sensing and recording the shaking it causes. Extremely sensitive seismographs can detect earthquakes too small to feel, even those happening on the far side of the globe. More on earthquakes: www.exploratorium.edu/faultline/index.html |

Make your own seismograph. All you need is a magnet and coil of wire. Attach the wire to an audio connector and plug it into your computer (mic-in). Any vibration of the magnet will cause an electric current which you can visualize and record as a sound wave with an audio recording software.
