Overview & Motivation

This session highlights the latest evaluation techniques and results related to users of online resources. We provide case studies across art and science museums in which evaluation is helping managers of Web sites and online or digital collections to better understand who uses their Web sites and what users experience. We present the most recent online evaluation findings, discuss ways to make audience research and evaluation about online users accessible and approachable for novice and more experienced evaluators, and share some techniques that can be used by developers of online collections who have minimal budgets for testing. Our audience for this session is professionals who work in or with a range of smaller to larger museums with varying budgets. People who want to know more about Web site users and how to evaluate their online experiences will want to attend this session. The panel is representative of Web managers across art and science museums.
