I don't know if you ever found out what the tool is but I may have a
lead:
I printed out a copy of the picture to a school parent who owns a
vineyard and who I knew had connections in the "old country". He didn't
recognize it but said the brand name on it is a French company that does
make winery equipment. He faxed a copy to some friends there in Burgundy
but they didn't recognize it and suggested he try someone else in
Bordeux. He is waiting to hear. He thought he knew it all so the project
intrigues him.
