Subject: pennies

Eric:
Regarding the Dec. 2nd workshop- According to a coin reference, the mid-1982
to present pennies are 97.5% Zn and 2.5% Cu and have a mass of 2.5 g. The
cores are 99.2% Zn and 0.8% Cu and covered with pure copper plating. The
1962 to mid-1982 pennies are 95% Cu and 5% Zn, 3.11 g. 1909 to 1962 (except
for various changes during WWII) were 95% Cu, 5% Sn/Zn (mixture unspecified),
3.11 g.
Well, that's my "two cents worth."
