Jennifer-

No, yes, and no. The implants are (were) not made of elemental silicon.
They did contain some sort of silicone (...O-Si-O-Si... chain with
hydrocarbon groups attached to the silicon). This group includes things like
many caulking materials and Silly Putty. My understanding is that the fill
material has been switched to saline solution. Not sure what material the
covers are made of.
