Director of Education and Outreach

The Yosemite National Institutes (YNI) is a nationally recognized leader in
the field of experiential environmental education, providing programs for
more than 40,000 participants annually at its three campuses: Headlands
Institute in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, near San Francisco,
Olympic Park Institute in Olympic National Park, Washington, and Yosemite
Institute in Yosemite National Park, California.

Yosemite National Institutes seeks a Director of Education and Outreach (DEO).
In this position the incumbent would actively develop, implement, and
improve YNI's multi-campus education practices and policies in concert with
the three campus-based Directors of Education. Primary responsibilities
include:

… Teaching and learning environmental science education through
inquiry-based experience, including implementation, analysis and evaluation
of programs, with an emphasis on YNI's Diversity Initiative.
… Representing YNI's education programs to internal and external
communities, including YNI's Senior Management Team, the YNI National
Board, and the National Park Service.
… Administrative responsibilities, such as recruiting of education staff,
managing advanced/continuing education opportunities for teaching staff,
collecting and managing statistical data, working with grant proposal
writers.

Required Qualifications:
… MA, MS or other advanced degree
… Minimum 2 years experience in administration
… Working knowledge of both formal education institutions and experiential
environmental education
… Experience with inquiry-based science education approaches
… Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications :
… Ed.D., Ph.D. or terminal degree in field of expertise
… Fluent in Spanish
… 2 years experience with teaching diverse student body or administering
diversity program
… College-level degree in Natural Science

Compensation:
Starting salary is $45,000 - $50,000, dependent on experience. YNI is
dedicated to providing a comprehensive benefits package, including
