I've seen it done with a flashlight and a styrofoam ball on a pencil for the
simple reflection of the sun on the moon in different locations. The
observer is in the position of Earth. This was done at the Lawrence Hall
physics lab during a SKILL workshop I took a few years ago. It can
illustrate that you can tell where the sun is from the way it is reflected
by the moon. Is the light coming from the right, from the left, or from
